Want a super silly, funny way to change beliefs?

If you've got a thought that keeps coming back, is holding you back, or you just feel gross when you think it, why not try a hilarious way to hear yourself thinking?

Let's say, for example, you have a thought that sounds something like this:

  • "I'll never be able to do that."
  • "I'm not that smart."
  • "I'm too old/young for that."
  • "I'm not good enough."
  • "I just can't figure things out."
  • "I'm so confused."

What if you try playing around with how that thought (remember, it's a thought, not reality) actually sounds? Is it:

  • Near or Far?
  • Loud or Soft?
  • Fast or Slow?
  • High or Low-pitched?

Whatever it sounds like, exaggerate the sound to the maximum, and also try out the opposite sound.

For example, if the thought is relatively quiet, slow, and low-pitched telling you, "I'm too young to be a manager," try slowing that voice into ultra, ultra, ultra slow motion, really low-pitched and almost in a whisper - like a whispering cartoon whale. Say it in that ridiculous voice several times until it just sounds like weird non-sensical words.

Then try the opposite, saying it as if you had just sucked in a helium balloon or playing a record at 10x speed. Say it multiple times, super-super-super fast in a high, silly, loud voice.

Once you've given yourself a good laugh, try saying it again in all seriousness. I wonder if you can still believe it, or if that thought will feel unreal now?

What's your thought or belief that might sound silly much faster, slower, louder, softer, higher, or lower? When you give it a try, I'd love to hear how it went for you. Can't wait to hear your laughter!

With great love,
